Paper Tiger

Tigers of all subspecies have long been endangered, including the Amur (or Siberian) tiger. In the 1940s there were estimated to be fewer than 30 Amur tigers left. Due to conservation efforts their numbers have begun to grow, with over 500 individuals now found in the wild. They still remain heavily protected, and there is an effort to reach over 2000 Amur tigers in the wild by 2020 to encourage sustainable biodiversity.
